Title: The Crimson Thread
Author: Suzanne Weyn
Pages: 240
Series: Once Upon a Time is Timeless
Retelling: Rumplestiltskin.
Summing it up: In the year 1880, Bertie (her real name is Bridget) and her family arrive in New York from Ireland. They fall onto hard times, as life in the ‘New World’
was difficult on immigrants, and all have to take jobs. Thanks to her
father’s lying, Bertie gets a job working as a seamstress for a man by
the name of JP Wellington (the owner of a dress making company). Her
father tells them she can ‘practically spin thread into gold’ and they
believe him. She meets a man named Ray Stalls, who helps her achieve
this goal by using an old spinning wheel. But then Bertie asks him how
she can repay him, and what does he say? By giving him her first born…
Reason I Decided to Read it: I love fairy tale based books and this was the next one from the series on my list.

The Good:
I adored this book. It was fun learning about the lives and how
immigrants lived back then. Ray is by far my favourite character,
because he is something different than your usual ‘knight in shining
armour’. The writing is also lovely.
The Bad: I don’t think there was really anything I disliked. I hated James, he was SO sleazy.
The Over-All:
I love this book. Okay, when I was little I was given a book about
Rumplestiltskin. It was one of those books where you press the buttons
and they made sounds. Just the drawings were creepy enough, but add the
voices and you got yourself a nightmare. I hated the tale of
Rumplestitskin, but this made me think different. It it's creepy at all.
Other:
I can't remember if there are any swears, but if there was, it was
minor. There are a couple kisses, and the only violence is a small
brawl.
Rated: 3.5/5.
